EDUCATIONAL OUTREACH

Grammy winner Richard Stoltzman’s virtuosity, technique, imagination, and communicative power revolutionized clarinet playing, and he remains the world’s foremost clarinet player. On faculty at New England Conservatory, Mr. Stoltzman is the author of preeminent texts of clarinet literature: Aria and The Richard Stoltzman Songbook, both published by Carl Fischer, Inc. Richard Stoltzman advocates a holistic approach to performance and enlightens students and community members through diverse and flexible residency offerings. In addition to giving the first clarinet recitals in the history of Carnegie Hall and the Hollywood Bowl, he has also been heard in concert with Keith Jarrett, Chick Corea, Wayne Shorter, Judy Collins, and George Shearing and has toured and recorded as soloist with Woody Herman and The Thundering Herd.


IN PERFORMANCE

Mr. Stoltzman frequently collaborates as soloist with student jazz bands, youth orchestras and chamber groups.  He has recently worked with such groups as the Youth Orchestras of San Antonio, as well as the University of North Florida Jazz Band.


MASTERCLASSES AND WORKSHOPS

Mr. Stoltzman has led masterclasses in universities and music schools throughout the world.  He frequently gives solo clarinet masterclasses and coachings to chamber ensembles performing works that include clarinet.  He also participates in woodwind workshops, as well as lecture and Q&A discussions on a wide range of topics, from working with living composers to performance health and wellness.
