Each
season, for thirty-seven years, Musicians from Marlboro has brought
audiences around the country new generations of young musicians destined
to become our long-term solo, chamber and orchestral friends. Yefim
Bronfman, Richard Goode, Murray Perahia, Peter Serkin and Andras Schiff
are just a few of the artists from Vermont's famed summer retreat who
were first heard in these ensembles.
The 2001-2002 touring ensembles (see schedule and programs) promise the heralded mix of masterpieces (Brahms B-flat Sextet, Debussy String Quartet, Schubert Octet) and lesser-known works (by Haydn, Hindemith and Schulhoff). With an experienced hand in each group--this season, members of the Guarneri, Juilliard and Orion Quartets and the Mannes Trio--together with the current crop of exceptional young professionals, Musicians from Marlboro, in the words of the Washington Post is "a virtual guarantee of musical excellence."
